Now where do you want to start?!
i think we should altogether forsake "church"ianity, and come back to the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ.
if we could focus on what we Agree on, like apostle Pauls gospel ; 5 points:
1) virgin birth
2) sinless life
3) atoning death
4) resurrection and ascension
5) 2nd coming
SIMPLIFY AND UNITE!
LORNA
People have gotten away from the idea that there is freedom in Christ and gotten too focused on the "Rules". In fact, too many Christians have heaped rules and regulations onto themselves that go far beyond the gospel. Christ criticized self-important, puffed up, pretentious garbage that went on in the temples of his time and recognized people with compassion and love for God and each other. He also was incredibly emotional and compassionate to those around him.
But many modern churches have become dogmatic, drained of all life and vibrance, where people read their worship from a script on their hymnals and become judgmental over the slightest issues. It's more like drones in a line who take up pew space for an hour before they can go socialize with fellow members, and we wonder why children grow up to be adults that see the practice as useless.
Where is the freedom in Christ? The yearning to learn and understand? The church should be family (the good kind) and focused upon Christ and what he wanted us to be like. If we paid more attention, we'd find a much clearer picture of what Christianity is all about.
